Due to global warming, DEREK (30s), his wife, KIRA (30s), and their daughter, ALANA (8), live in an isolated home in the desert. Outside, the world is filled with intense floods, winds, heat, and disease. As Earth deteriorates, so does humanity, rendering Earth almost uninhabitable. TOR (30s) and LUKA (30s) terrorize the city for their leader and Tor’s lover, HELENA (30s). Helena reminds Tor that child-bearing females are scarce and valuable and children are even more precious. Alana sees a dog outside and sneaks out of the home, setting off a security alarm by cutting the fence with her penknife, which alerts her parents. She meets JAKE (8), who inadvertently touches her arm. Then Alana approaches the dog she saw earlier. Derek and Kira rush to find Alana, confront the dog, and take her home safely. Shortly afterward, Alana shows signs of illness. Derek and Kira argue over whether they should leave their home to find medicine for Alana. Derek reluctantly agrees to take Kira and Alana to a pharmacy in the city. At the pharmacy, Derek meets GERALD (50s), the pharmacist, and ORIN (20s), a mysterious outsider. Gerald tells Derek will need to contact Tor for medication. Orin warns Derek against using Tor. As Derek and Orin leave, Gerald calls Tor to tell him about Alana. Helena desperately wants the child and to be her mother. She demands Tor to kidnap Alana for her. Derek, Kira, and Alana head to a hospital where they are told they are full, like all other hospitals. Tor and his henchmen confront Derek, Kira, and Alana. Because Luka stands behind their vehicle, Derek balks at running him over despite Kira’s intense insistence. Orin suddenly intervenes and kills one of Tor’s men with a strange gun. During the commotion, Orin flees with Derek, Kira, and Alana. When they reach safety, Orin offers to give Alana medication in exchange for a place to stay. Derek and Kira agree to let Orin come live in their home. Unbeknownst to Derek and Kira, Orin is an alien from Andromeda. In the past, Orin falls in love with a fellow student, BRIEX (20s). Briex and Orin’s professor, DR. GAGAN (40s), sexually harasses Briex. Eventually, Dr. Gagan kills Briex out of jealousy, and Orin kills Dr. Gagan out of revenge before escaping to Earth for safety. Meanwhile, BADAR (40s), another alien from Andromeda, comes to Earth and begins searching for Orin. Two police officers track Derek, Kira, Alana, and Orin to their home. The officers are working for Tor. Orin convinces the family to tell the officers to leave. Tor sends Luka and some of his henchmen go to the house later to kidnap Alana. Orin goes to fight them off. Derek tries to help and is kidnapped. Luka returns with Derek as a bargaining chip. Orin is shot but survives. Helena’s plans to be Alana’s mother are foiled though. She tells Tor to obtain Orin and his weapon in exchange for Derek. Tor, Luka, and others go back to the house during a severe sandstorm. A fight ensues. Orin shoots Luka but only wounds him. Derek is killed by Tor after Orin agrees to give up. Kira shoots Tor as Orin approaches Tor. Tor dies, but Luka returns to Helena. Badar reaches Kira and Alana’s home to confront Orin. When Orin refuses to go back to Andromeda with him, Badar readies his weapon to kill Orin, but Kira intervenes and kills Badar. Orin becomes highly aware that others from Andromeda will come get him. The family decides to leave the house and move away until they are confronted by an armed Helena, who comes to the house to take Alana. Helena shoots Orin before he can react. As Helena clutches Alana, Alana stabs her with her penknife. Then Kira kills Helena. Kira, Alana, and Orin leave the house together and drive off to a shelter for the displaced people who have been affected by the effects of Climate Change. Orin comes across a person he knew from Andromeda and is persuaded to return to his former world and try to help. Orin promises Kira and Alana that he will return.
