NYISA is an international screenplay competition that offers an opportunity for screenwriters to connect with US industry professionals and explore the US markets.
The competition offers prizes to the winners, finalists, and semi-finals.
These prizes include InkTip Pro memberships, Copyright protection registrations by Creators Vault, online screenwriting courses by Script Reader Pro, Final Draft Software, email blasts to 1050+ agents and producers by Script Mailer, 30-minute consultation and feedback, and generous discounts by The Film Deck. In addition, consultations by R2-W2 is a leading talent & project accelerator service specializing in the film and media industry and offers production strategy consultancy.
The Call for Entries for the 2025 New York International Screenplay Awards is now open.
Submissions will be accepted via Filmfreeway and Coverfly.
The NYISA jury members are not just industry professionals; they are experienced and respected figures in the field. They include producers, script doctors, directors, actors, and screenwriters.
The winners, official finalists, semi-finalists, and quarter-finalists of the competition will be announced on April 28th, 2025, all at once!
The award ceremony, a grand event, will take place at the DROM Venue on May 8th, 2025; everyone is invited to attend. It’s one of the most effective networking cocktail parties in NYC. The event will feature live jazz music, shows, and the red-carpet award ceremony.
NYISA has been run by MAE Media House, a prestigious creative consulting company in New York, since 2015. The competition was founded by Emine Dursun, a Sundance Alumna and New York-based Screenwriter, Script Doctor, and Creative Writing Teacher. Emine Dursun is also a jury member of many Film Festivals and Script competitions, such as The Writers Lab, supported by Meryl Streep, Oprah Winfrey, and Nicole Kidman, and produced by New York Women in Film & Television.

All scripts must be submitted in English, formatted in 12-point courier font.
Entry fees must be paid in U.S. dollars. Entry into the competition is void where prohibited by law.
Screenplays written by up to four people may be entered in the contest. Only one entry fee is required for such entries. All writers’ names should be listed on the online entry. All writers must authorize the submission of the entry. All writers authorize the submission online to the NYISA.
All entries must be uploaded in PDF format. (www.freepdfconcert.com)
Entrants to the NYISA retain all rights to their screenplays.
You may submit your entry and payment online through Coverfly or FilmFreeway. We will not give preference to either method of submission.
Entries must be received by the applicable Entry Deadline.
Once a script has been entered into competition, we will not accept substitutions or revised drafts. If you wish to submit a revised draft of your script, you must enter it as a new submission.
NYISA will not share your screenplay with anyone except the official judges of the competition.
By entering the NYISA, you represent that your entry is your original work and does not infringe on other people's copyright or other rights.
Entry fees are non-refundable.
We do not accept hardcopy submissions by mail.
The decisions of the judges are final.
NYISA reserves the right to make any necessary changes, postponements, or cancellations to event scheduling at our discretion.
Notifying winners and official finalists will be emailed and posted on our website. The winners are responsible for redeeming any prizes allotted to them by the NYISA or our sponsors. Applicants are responsible for providing current contact information and mailing addresses for prize redemption purposes.
Feature screenplays must be between 70 and 140 pages in length.
Short screenplays must be between 1 and 40 pages in length.
TV Pilot screenplays must be between 20 and 70 pages in length.
There is no limit to the number of screenplays you may submit.
Under absolutely no circumstances will substitutions of either corrected pages or new drafts of the entry screenplay(s) be made. Screenplays will not be returned.
Screenplay titles cannot be changed upon resubmission under any circumstances.
To enter the NYISA, you must agree to its Terms and Conditions.
To protect your script, we strongly suggest you register your work with the Writers Guild of America, West (www.wga.org or call 323.782.4500) and the US Copyright Office (http://www.copyright.gov).
