Wildsound Reader 1 - Industry TV Writer "An interesting concept that sets up the foundation for a sci-fi mystery with the early events of having a character mysteriously disappear. With the only witness being someone with a history of alcohol abuse, the narrative takes on an intriguing perspective as he begins to question his sanity. It’s the concrete perception of others that heightens his struggle as he tries to convince them that what he saw was real and not one of his drunken illusions. With just a glimpse into Matt’s lifestyle, his character becomes someone that can be easily emphasized for as he is constantly faced with the judgement of those around him even if he has good intentions. Matt is introduced as a complicated character even before his clash with the supernatural making him a character that will go on to having an interesting story arc." Wildsound Reader 2 - Industry Feature Writer "This is a fascinating blend of character study and clandestine operations, a man suffering badly from mental illness with few places to turn to who stumbles across a conspiracy, the pockets of which appear endless. There’s a lot to be said for the way the script introduces us to Matt, initially as an alcoholic, depressed, but slowly unshackling his secrets, introducing a therapist, then having the therapist introduce his condition. It’s nicely done, slightly toying with audience perception but still getting to the point fairly quickly. The spooky encounter with the brand-new lamppost is done very well, and becomes more stressful for the audience as we realise Matt is someone who nearly all people he comes across are unlikely to believe." Screenplay Awards Network: "The script’s most attractive quality is the mystery at its core. Luanne’s disappearance is both captivating and provides a good overarching goal for the series and sets it in motion. It is intriguing to see where the story will go, not just in this episode, but over the course of multiple episodes and seasons." Style References: "The X-Files" & "Shutter Island".
