Additional Project Info

Blood Libel is an 8-hour medieval thriller based on the story of William of Norwich, an English boy whose death marks the first known accusation of ritual murder against the Jewish people. Set against the storied backdrop of 12th-century Norfolk, and inspired by one surviving Latin manuscript, it explores the crossroads of history and myth. A murdered boy, a vulnerable community, and a horrific accusation. This is blood libel, one of the deadliest legends to emerge from the Middle Ages, first composed by a crusading monk of Norwich who sells his soul for a saint. Chilling, cinematic and rooted in history, Blood Libel is an ode to the dark romance of Shelley and Poe, an undeniable truth wrapped in a vivid dream and animated through a historical lens. This story is both fact and fiction, history and imagination, all wound up into a medieval whodunit with real-world consequences, especially for the people who endured them. But don't be fooled by the religious overtones. This epic drama is about the power of mythology and its terrific hold over human history.
