Writer’s Note: Hearts in a Sling stems from a “What if?” question. As a person born with cerebral palsy, I have always wondered what things would have looked like if my own parents could not “handle” having a child with a disability. I then incorporated my own experiences of having relatives with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease as well as addiction into the script and came up with the plot of Hearts. Currently nearing the end of my graduate program where I am obtaining my M.A. in English & Creative Writing with a concentration in screenwriting, my goal is to get funding for either the short film script provided to festivals and competitions or funding for a more expansive feature film as I am currently developing the feature film script as we speak. -Stephanie Gould Additional wins and placements can be found at www.stephaniegould.com/writing https://linktr.ee/StephanieGould
