I’m Hispanic, a retired, disabled former Air Force Intelligence Officer. The creation of COLD WAR CHARLIE Is based off some real-life military experiences based on the following: - Charlie is my “military call sign”. - Selected as one of first female Nuclear Missile Launch Officers, a combat position held only by men. - Busted through the glass ceiling as a Distinguished Graduate from Missile Launch Training, given women were expected to fail. - Went on to become, the first female missile instructor, first female Squadron Command Post, Commander (in charge of 10 male crews and up to 150 nuclear weapons). - In 1991, was hand-selected by former Secretary of State & Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Colin L. Powell, and his Soviet counterpart to brief the missile reduction treaty. - After 9/11 I served as a Senior Intelligence Officer at several top-secret intelligence agencies where I led a multifaceted team in delivering real-time intelligence supporting worldwide military operations and briefed national senior decision makers.
