Originally from Maui, Hawaii, Alexandra Amadio is a film and television writer who is currently in the Top 10 of the 2020 Launch Pad Pilot competition with “Aloha State”, a Dawson’s Creek-esque drama based on her experiences growing up in the islands, and recently attached prolific television director Wendey Stanzler to her feature, “All-Star”, about a courageous female football player – a story inspired by an incident where Alexandra’s own high school prevented her from joining the football team based solely on her gender. A self-described tomboy shaped by her consumption of mainstream pop culture in the late 80s and early 90s, she often writes from the perspective of emotionally damaged underdogs overcoming incredible odds, and has been praised for her ability to tell fresh and innovative stories across multiple genres and mediums, while still working within their existing parameters, with a formula of 60% familiar, 40% new.
