Writer/Director tandem Omar Kamara & Jalmer Caceres won the Austin Film Festival Pitch Competition and are completing their thesis project at the prestigious American Film Institute. As first generation children of immigrants-- Omar from Sierra Leone, Jalmer from El Salvador-- they explore the themes of family, national identity, belonging, and displacement in their feature work. Despite growing up on opposite coasts with families from different corners of the world, they quickly bonded over their shared experiences and love of cinema.
