Additional Project Info

THE CASSANDRA MURDERS is an Award Winner (BEST UNPRODUCED SCREENPLAY) in the following competitions: 1) Santa Monica International Filmmaker Awards; 2) Hawaiian International Film Festival 3) Santa Cruz Independent FilmFest; 4) Scriptwriters & Co. U.K. Madeline is happy to be back at her real work, after grading English 1A papers for 30 years. Her first full-length play, TWO O’CLOCK FEEDING, was produced by The Magic Theatre in SF in 1980 and published in West Coast Plays IV. Raising a family and teaching college English full time left no time to write plays, but since retiring in 2014, she’s written over 40 short plays, and has had most of them produced, hither and thither, all over the world. Her one-act, PLAYLAND FOREVER, won a spot in the William Inge Festival 2018, and her PIERCINGS an anthology of short plays, has been published in Next Stage Press. Her home theatre, the fabulous Towne Street L.A., will produce her latest murder mystery, THE BLUE PANDA, in its Ten Minute Play Festival in October 2023. Recently, Madeline has had some success with THE CASSANDRA MURDERS in several FilmFreeway Festivals: TCM is an Award Winner in ScriptWriter & Co's International Film Festival (Best MidLength Screenplay) and three others, so far. Madeline is 79, has a nice little pension and great healthcare (for an American), and she plans to live ‘til she’s 101. She writes from the heart, she writes to the bone, and she writes to celebrate our common humanity. Like Dominique Morisseau, she believes that “good writers see themselves in everybody.” Madeline’s characters come to her and demand life, and she gives them her own. She lives with her handsome Monroe in Oakland, California. Her motto is “Leave it all on the dance floor.” She’s having way too much fun. WRITER STATEMENT Here's THE CASSANDRA MURDERS for your consideration-- it's LAW & ORDER SVU meets The Iliad, with a nod and a wink to Hamlet. It is inspired by my "lived experience" and that of many women, regarding sexual harassment, assault and CSA. (Childhood Sexual Assault). It's a BritBoxy "whodunnit" and it has its lighter moments, but one of its serious themes is "Believe women." Another is Hecuba's advice to her daughter: " Love is the only way forward." Another is Cassandra's ' advice to serial killers everywhere: "Always go for easy clean up." THE CASSANDRA MURDERS has accumulated 4 "WINNER" awards and numerous finalist and semi-finalist awards. I'm hoping you find it entertaining and compelling enough to help me get an agent and some serious interest from producers. Thanks for your interest.
