Robert Axelrod is having a pretty great year. He won the Humanitas New Voices fellowship, through which he worked under the mentorship of Winnie Holzman, followed by topping this year’s A-List. Building off of his recent success, he’s taken a number general meetings in the last couple months, including at Berlanti Productions, Lord Miller, and 20th Century Fox. Growing up gay and Jewish in Southeastern Michigan, he began writing about characters finding their footing between contrasting worlds. He has racked up accolades and meetings behind powerful character-driven one-hour samples exploring the intersection and resulting culture clashes of people from different lifestyles, backgrounds, and philosophies; receiving particular praise for his authentic characters and dialogue along with his ability to poignantly yet delicately handle significant and timely themes.
