Max Rissman is an immensely talented writer that's destined for a big break. As a kid he was obsessed with "The Wizard of Oz," and often lived in a world of his own imagination. Through creative expression such as songwriting, playwriting, screenwriting and filmmaking, he learned to process his inner world and relate more deeply with others. Now he uses elevated genre – horror, thriller, sci-fi and magical realism – to tell emotionally grounded stories about insecure characters learning to forgive themselves and heal. In the years since completing his MFA in filmmaking at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, Max has steadily gained placements in major competitions and produced his own independent work. He recently won bronze at the PAGE awards, and his first feature film is being distributed in 2025. He is available for representation.
