Additional Project Info

The first of a three-arc narrative about the troubled protagonist Medyamehr Eskandari. We follow Medyamehr as he grows up in the tumultuous Shah-era Iran and discovers the cost of his beliefs in a succession of life-and-death situations. The first arc concludes with his attempt to escape from Iran across the Iran-Iraq border. In the subsequent arcs, we delve deeper into the lives of Medyamehr and his wife, Sanam, most notably through their unforeseen and harrowing experiences in Saddam Hussein's Iraq. We learn more about Sanam, the silent force of nature in Medyamehr's life, despite her traumas as a former sixteen-year-old prisoner of conscience. By the time the family makes it to the Netherlands to apply for asylum, it is a question if they made it in one piece and if there are any ulterior motives for their asylum application.
