Elise Brown is a television writer who previously worked in the writers room on Hulu's THE ACT and THE MYSTERIOUS BENEDICT SOCIETY, and recently won the WeScreenplay Diverse Voices Fellowship and signed at Gotham Group. So she's having a pretty good run. After growing up in an idyllic suburb of Chicago, she studied at both Yale and USC where she discovered the world was not the meritocracy she hoped and believed it to be. This is evident in her television samples that extensively explore race, power, privilege, and the stratification of social classes our nation has created, driven by morally ambiguous black and female leads.
