Additional Project Info

The character of Paul the Octopus is loosely based on the real-life octopus that accurately predicted all 2010 World Cup matches with Germany, as well as the finals match between Spain and the Netherlands. Therefore, some of the more outrageous details of the story--the soccer match predictions and their outcomes, the global media sensation, the recipes and death threats, the Spanish government's offer of bodyguards and safe harbor, the Spanish soccer team thanking Paul for helping them win the World Cup, the small Galician town's mayor visiting Oberhausen to honor Paul, and Paul's sudden and untimely death--really happened. However, all other characters and the events that unite them are entirely fictional. Additional note: A version with Spanish translations for dialogue taking place in Spain is also available.
