"La Parca" is a drama/horror/thriller/romance screenplay that draws inspiration from films of the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema as well as from Robert Eggers’ horror films such as The Witch and The Lighthouse. Not only this, but this story is also a twist on the Monster Horror sub-genre that we are very used to. The tone is Cronos (Dir. Guillermo del Toro) meets The Lighthouse. As a Mexican filmmaker, I like to think that “La Parca” is also a love letter to my own culture and the history of our national filmmaking industry. The themes that I touch like depression, death, love, loneliness, and transcendence come from the perspective of my own experiences as a Mexican man and I believe this could be something new and fascinating for an international audience. As you can see on my Coverfly page, my screenplay has been chosen to participate in multiple competitions.
