This story has a strong focus on character and theme, and so incorporates a somewhat unconventional structure which is designed to serve the protagonist's journey and help keep pacing in what is essentially a dialog driven sports drama. Some non PC humour may offend a sensitive reader, but I have made every effort to be as tactful and even handed as possible.
