Writer/Director La’Chris Jordan has received over 60 awards, grants and honors for her work including being a Winner in The Script Lab’s 2019 Screenplay Contest with her historical drama PINEY RIDGE. Recently, La’Chris made her directorial debut with JANUARY 14TH, which was an Official Selection of the Academy Award Qualifying 2020 Pan African Film Festival. JANUARY 14TH also won Best Short and Best Director in the Top Indie Film Awards along with receiving four nominations in additional categories. La’Chris has been a 2018 Semifinalist for the Sundance Episodic Lab, a 2019 Austin Film Festival Second Rounder and a 2019 Finalist for the WeScreenplay Diverse Voices Fellowship and the SAGindie Fellowship at Stowe Story Labs. Her other screenwriting credits include ROSES IN THE WATER, THE SOURCE, SOMETHING MORE THAN THIS and THE RIDGE. An journalism graduate from the University of Washington, La’Chris is the founder of BlackCinemadb.com, an online database of over 700 films and documentaries from the African American and African diaspora.
