2023 Women of Color Film Incubator
The National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) is proud to announce the third cycle of the Women of Color Film Incubator!
This groundbreaking initiative, formerly known as Latino Lens: Narrative Short Film Incubator for Women of Color, seeks five visionary directors of color whose voices deserve to be heard. Filmmakers chosen for the program will be awarded a $30,000 grant for their short film project, along with mentoring spanning from the initial stages of pre-production through the actual filming process, post-production, and the final exhibition. Following the program, these filmmakers will continue to be supported to ensure their achievements within the industry.
The application process for the third cycle opens on 11/18.
Benefits
The program, which is sponsored by Netflix, entails funding of $30,000 for each film, alongside a comprehensive year-long mentorship program involving experienced filmmakers affiliated with the NALIP community.
Chosen filmmakers will be matched with mentors who will provide valuable insights and assistance throughout every phase of the filmmaking journey, encompassing pre-production, actual filming, post-production, and eventual showcasing.

2024 INCUBATOR TIMELINE
- *Nov 18: Applications Open
- *Dec 2nd: Deadline to apply
- *Dec 9th: Final five filmmakers selected and notified
- *Dec 15th: Incubator Opens
- *Dec- Early January: Script Stage
- *Mid-January: Development and Prep
- *February: Production
- *March: Early Post - Editing
- *April: Late Post - Color + Sound

NALIP requests the following materials for first-round consideration:

+Logline (1-2 sentences)
+Previous Work Sample
+Production Team Roster and Production Plan
+Full Budget Outline ($30,000)
+Short Screenplay (15 pages max)
+Pitch Deck/Lookbook (i.e. highlights, visual references, tone, synopsis, team bios, character bios, director’s statement, etc.)
