He then returned to the US and entered the ICM training program before working with filmmaker Bernardo Bertolucci on Little Buddha. He next joined the Motion Picture Corporation of America, where Thomas oversaw production on dozens of MPCA projects and built a film library consisting of over 100 titles. One of those titles was the Farrelly Brothers' Dumb and Dumber, where he first met the directorial duo.
In 1998, Thomas and the Farrellys formed a partnership by creating the production entity Conundrum Entertainment. Under the banner, Thomas produced films such as There's Something About Mary, Me, Myself & Irene, Shallow Hal, Stuck On You and Fever Pitch. Thomas' films have gone on to gross over $1.5 billion in the worldwide theatrical box office and have been recognized by the American Film Institute, The Golden Globe Awards, MTV Movie Awards, Film Critics Circle, The People’s Choice Awards and American Comedy Awards.
