Storytellers Initiative: Collegiate Writing Competition

SeriesFest is thrilled to launch the sixth season of the Storytellers Initiative! This season we are looking to discover creative, fresh writers in the collegiate level.  What excites us most for Season 6 is the opportunity to explore series’ with a strong point of view and bold characters from the next generation of storytellers. In order to qualify, interested writers must be enrolled in a college or university program and are encouraged to submit pilot scripts with episodes running between 15–30 minutes (minimum 15 - maximum 30 pages) and a Series Format Deck. 



  • Pilot Script (minimum 15 - maximum 30 pages)

  • Completed and Signed Application Form via CoverFly

  • Entry Fee

  • Must also include a Series Format Deck to be uploaded to the application page under “Files & Attachments” 

The Series Format Deck is a 2-15 page document that includes a logline, series regular and recurring character descriptions, and Season One story arch or future episode descriptions.  (See Full Guidelines Below) 



Writers of the winning project will participate in a Storytellers Initiative live read event at SeriesFest: Season 6. Finalists will be flown out to Denver the week of the festival where they will participate in a 2-day lab including creative workshops with established industry professionals during the week of June 18th, 2020.
