About

At New York Stage and Film, we believe in the impact story can have on our world. Our Filmmakers’ Workshop accelerates that impact by giving writers the community and resources needed to advance their craft and careers. As a fellow in our workshop, you'll be surrounded by a team of professionals and peers who believe in you, your story, and your long-term success.

By way of the projects and relationships developed within the Filmmakers’ Workshop, alumni have secured representation, been staffed on TV shows (including Azia Squire, Melody Cooper, Jonterri Gadson) and produced screenplays (Peanut Butter Falcon co-written by Tyler Nilson and The Game by Ana Lazarevic).

As part of our program, writers receive;

Script Support from Industry Mentors

Writers will be assigned 3 mentors to discuss their scripts in depth. Past mentors include Matthew Weiner (Mad Men), Halley Feiffer (American Crime Story), and Soo Hung (Pachinko)

Table Reads with professional actors

Writers will see their scripts performed by professional actors. Mentors, Actors, and peers sit in on the table reads and provide supportive feedback.

Writers attend Q&As and lectures with industry leaders. Past teachers include Jim Manos (DEXTER), Frank Pugliese (House of Cards), and more.
