About

The David and Lynn Angell College Comedy Award was created in 2003 to honor the lives of David and Lynn Angell, who were aboard Flight 11 on September 11, 2001. David Angell was a writer on the staff of Cheers and co-creator of Wings and Frasier. Lynn Angell worked as a librarian and supported David during the early years of his career. The David and Lynn Angell College Comedy Award was created to recognize young writers and encourage them to create works that enrich the lives of others through comedy that captures the human spirit. It is one of two Humanitas College Screenwriting Awards which recognize writers whose work advances the mission of Humanitas and who are currently enrolled in a college or university program. After a rigorous selection process, one recipient will receive the award and a $20,000 prize.
